Free Watch Live DD News Channel

The Doordarshan News, usually referred to by its abbreviation as the “DD News”, is a state-owned TV news channel telecasting from Doordarshan Kendra Delhi. The Prasar Bharati Board approved the proposal to start a 24-hours news channel in place of DD Metro. This was subsequently approved by the Union Cabinet in its meeting held on October 3, 2003. Consequent to these decisions, DD-News channel was launched on November 3, 2003 by converting DD-Metro into a 24-hours news channel. Its terrestrial reach is 21.6% by area and 44.9% by population of the country.DD News quickly gained popularity among the viewers, exceeding its commercial revenue target of Rs. 2 crores, for 2003-04, and the channel earned Rs. 10 crores. The popularity of the channel amongst advertisers continues unabated and the revenue figures for the current year (04-05) have already crossed Rs. 10 crores. The main reason for this is that DD News is a free channel unlike the private and better channels that are pay-channels. The foremost benefit that has accrued to Doordarshan as a result of the launch of the DD News channel is the reactivation of a large volume of quality in-house production. This was achieved through a higher utilization of the in-house infrastructure than hitherto achieved. The DD-News channel the country’s only 24 hours terrestrial news channel telecasts over 16 hours of live news bulletins daily in Hindi and English. News Headlines, News updates, breaking news on the scroller are regular features on this channel. A daily bulletin in Sanskrit and Urdu is also telecast. Besides, the Regional News Units attached to different Doordarshan Kendras also telecast daily news bulletins in regional languages of varying duration and frequency. The DD News headlines can now be accessed through the SMS. DD News also carries Stock and Commodities indices throughout the day in an automated delivery mode, accessing information from NSE & BSE and leading commodity exchanges like NCDEX, MCX, etc.
